# What You'll Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries (approximately 14 oz)

→ Liquids

02 - 5 cups water

→ Sweetener

03 - 3/4 cup granulated sugar (about 10.5 oz), adjust to taste

→ Optional Additions

04 - 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
05 - 1/2 teaspoon orange zest

# How To Make It:

01 - Rinse cranberries thoroughly, discarding any soft or discolored berries.
02 - Combine cranberries and water in a large saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
03 - Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally until cranberries burst and soften.
04 - Remove from heat and strain mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large bowl, pressing solids to extract juice. Discard solids.
05 - Return juice to saucepan, add sugar, and stir over low heat until fully dissolved. Adjust sweetness if desired.
06 - Stir in lemon juice and orange zest if using.
07 - Allow juice to cool before transferring to a clean pitcher or bottle. Refrigerate until chilled and serve over ice or as preferred.

# Tips from dashanddishes:

01 -
  • You control the sweetness, so it never tastes like candy.
  • It takes less than half an hour and uses only three basic ingredients.
  • The color alone makes every glass feel like a celebration.
02 -
  • Don't skip the straining step or you'll end up with pulpy juice that separates in the glass.
  • Add the sugar while the juice is still warm, it dissolves so much faster and blends in evenly.
03 -
  • Press the berries hard when straining, that's where most of the flavor hides.
  • Let the juice cool completely before refrigerating, or condensation will water it down.
