02 - 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
03 - 3 large garlic cloves, thinly sliced
04 - Zest of 1 lemon

# How To Make It:

01 - Wash the greens thoroughly and drain well.
02 - Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced garlic and sauté for 1 minute, stirring frequently, until fragrant but not browned.
03 - Add the greens to the skillet, tossing to coat with oil and garlic. Cook for 4 to 6 minutes, stirring often, until wilted and tender but still bright green.
04 - Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir in lemon zest and juice, toss to combine, and cook for 1 additional minute.
05 - Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle with toasted nuts if desired. Serve warm.

# Tips from dashanddishes:

01 -
  • It takes barely any time but tastes like you put real thought into dinner.
  • The lemon cuts through the earthiness of the greens in a way that makes them actually crave-able.
  • You can use whatever greens are lurking in your fridge and it still works beautifully.
02 -
  • Do not skip drying the greens after washing, wet leaves steam instead of sauté and you lose that tender, silky texture.
  • Add the lemon at the very end, cooking it too long makes it taste dull and flat instead of bright and lively.
03 -
  • Toast your nuts in a dry pan until they smell warm and nutty, it only takes a couple of minutes but makes a huge difference.
  • If your greens are especially tough, add a splash of broth and cover the pan for a minute to help them steam and soften faster.
